NOTE: Reposted due to managed newsgroups not working properly...my apologies
for the duplication...

I am trying to "Create Project Web Access Site" within my Sharepoint server
farm.

The process appears to start correctly - it comes up with "Waiting for
Resources", but after that, the entry disappears (I assume this is when the
timer event fires). There are no errors logged anywhere, even with verbose
logging turned on for everything, but the Project Web Access Site is never
created.

Has anyone encountered this before, or can anyone give me any ideas on how
to determine what is going on here (considering that there is nothing in any
of the logs)?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Richard,

From your description, you're encountering some problem when tried creating
a PWA site for your project server project, correct?

As for the PWA site provision, there has automatic provision and manual
provision, have you used both of them and encounter the same problem?

#Create (provision) a project workspace site
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/projectserver/HA100996541033.aspx

For the PWA site provision itself, it involves several different operations
in the sharepoint server(such as site creation and account mapping...).
Brian Smith has posted a blog entry explaining the details of the PWA site
provision process(when you encounter long "Waiting for Resources" for long
time). According to the article, there are several timer jobs worth
checking at different stage of the provision process. You can have a look
at the article to get more ideas:

#Waiting for Resources? - What happens when you provision a new Project Web
Access site
http://blogs.msdn.com/brismith/archive/2007/07/27/waiting-for-resources-what
-happens-when-you-provision-a-new-project-web-access-site.aspx

In addition, as you mentioned that there is no much info in the logs, do
you mean the sharepoint ULS log in the "12/LOGS" folder? Generally
sharepoint service will log most significant problems or error info into
the ULS log.

nd-the-unified-logging-service-uls.aspx

BTW, since the problem here is more concentrated on the sharepoint and
project server configuration and this group is focus on sharepoint
development features, I would also recommend you post in the sharepoint
online forum so that more sharepoint admin experts can put ideas on this:

Hi Steven,

Thanks for getting back to me!

We have managed to sort this out - it turns out that the project server
binaries had not been installed on one of the servers in the farm - it was
showing as "Not Configured" as it is only running SQL server reporting
services, and so apparently it was not thought necessary to install it. After
installing the binaries on this server, I have been able to create the PWA
sites.

Thanks again for getting back to me.

Thanks for your followup Richard,

I'm glad that you've figured out the problem.
