It seems that Spammers have found a way of sending
instant "Spam" messges or (ISM) to my screen as well
through Messenger. This has happened several times over
the last couple of weeks. Where is the security in this?
I have not allowed these users to send me Instant
Messages but somehow they are still getting through!!
Here is an example;

Never give out your password or credit card number in
an instant message conversation.

Blessed my ARSE!
Is Microsoft looking into this? - Seems like bit of a
security loophole?? Anyone else heard of this happening?

Justin.

Nope, they're using the Windows Messenger service..
<example snipped>

Why would they? The service is working as designed.

Yep... if you'd read the hundreds of other posts on this topic, you'd
know.
The Windows messenger service is running correctly and doing its job,
the reason you're getting messages from the outside world is becuase
you've failed to properly secure your computer from the internet.
Install and configure a firewall, and the messages will magically
disappear.
