Hello,
Does anyone here know antything about Spybot Search &
Destroy? I have used Spybot to remove some of the spyware
on my computer but when I open Spybot and go to Recovery
there is nothing listed there. Aren't all the "fixed
problems" supposed to show up so that I can undo them if
I need too? Sorry if this is the wrong newsgroup to ask
this but I didn't know where else to go!
Thanks, Val

I can find mine in "recovery."

Are you sure that you REALLY removed yours?

Run the program again to see what it shows now. Differences? The same?

Nope still nothing listed in "recovery" I only removed
the few things I knew for sure I wouldn't need but now I
am afraid to remove anything else because I won't be able
to get it back it I find I needed it and some of the
spyware is in my registry. I have sent and email to the
link on the Spybot website but have not received an
answer back.
Thanks, Val

Val, In Advanced Mode, tick the Settings Tab, and make sure you've
got the boxes checked to make backups of items removed. Farther down
on the page, you can specify how long to keep in Recovery.

I switch to Advanced mode and did what you said to do
then let Spybot "FIX" one more item and still nothing is
showing in my "recovery" list?

It sounds to me like you've got a bad install. If you've still got
the Spybot Setup exe, you can uninstall the program and re-install
using the setup files. Make sure you disable the Immunize function,
and any other browser resident function in the program. Uncheck it
in the startup tab of Msconfig, too, and reboot so it's not running
when you uninstall. Be sure to get it updated as soon as you can.
Good luck.

Charlie,
Ok I did all that you told me to and then used Spybot
to "Fix one more problem" and it is not showing in
my "recovery list" Some of the problems Spybot has found
are in my registry and I don't want to remove them if I
don't have the option to recover them. Does that guy from
the Spybot website every answer questions? I was going to
send him a donation but not if the software is not
working right for me! Do you have any other suggestions?
I went to this other message board and this is what
someone told me to do but I have no idea if what he
suggested is safe? Here this is what he said.

Download "HijackThis" here
When downloading, choose "save to disk" and NOT open!

Now create a new folder for it, C:\Hijackthis, for
example.
After unzipping the file. to C:\Hijack This, you'll end
up with the file itself, which is Hijackthis.exe, and
that's the one you'll need to doubleclick.'

When the program launches, hit the "Scan" button
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change
into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, and save the log anywhere you like.

Now if you doubleclick the log file.Go to Edit > Select
all, then to Edit > copy.
Now you've copied the entire text to the Windows
Clipboard (this happens behind your back.)

Next, go back to this forum thread, and click "Add Reply".
In an empty area click your RIGHT mouse button, and
choose 'Paste' from the context menu.
There's your Hijack This log.

Thanks Val

I wouldn't worry too much about that recovery list of Spybot S&D. It's one
of the best programs for these issues.

What I would do is:

Uninstall it, download the program again from
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html, install it, update the
definitions and run it again.

With reference to "HijackThis" my advice is simple: get the log and send it
to "HijackThis" forum, wait for reply and learn. (I wouldn't touch anything
without help.)

Luck with this.
