every time i sign onto msn messenger it signs me out
after 2 minutes without my permission. it happens
constantly no matter how many times i sign back in.

Have you applied security updates to MSN Messenger?
Help, about, shows Version 6.0 (6.0.0602) on mine on XP.
You can check help, about without being signed on.
If you aren't up to date, I'd go to:
