I want to know what's the best way to lock down the usage of Hotmail, Yahoo,
etc...

I was thinking of using GPO to restrict sites like *.hotmail.com,
*.passport.com, login.yahoo.com, mail.yahoo.com, etc

Or I can restrict these Domains on the firewall. Do anyone know a better
idea? thanks.

I'd do it at the firewall.

HI.

There are several techniques.

* A firewall might be able to do it, but it might need a 3rd party (like
WebSense) or add-on modules depending on the specific firewall you have.

* Many proxy servers can do the trick.

* Another option is IEAK ("Internet Explorer Administration Kit").
The IEAK is embedded in the GPO but this can only work for W2K and above
client computers, and I'm not sure if you can easily do it (but you can
try).

Bye

Here are the top four HTTP content filtering companies in my opinion,
I would look at their sites and see if they work with your current
firewall or cache servers. You could also look at your firewall/cache
vendors web page and see who they partner with.

www.n2h2.com
www.securecomputing.com
www.surfcontrol.com
www.websense.com

I use SonicWalls at most of my client sites and they can filter basic URLs
with no third-party add-ins. Of course, you get more features with the other
stuff, but you can keep out a lot of the kiddies by just blocking certain
sites.
