The 1394 net adapter isn't wireless. You want the ethernet adapter for
wired. Check in Device Manager to make sure it is enabled.

You start by doing what I or David B. suggested and check to make sure the
ethernet adapter isn't disabled. OR you take the machine to a competent
local computer tech (or even a very knowledgeable friend as long as they
really are knowledgeable and not just saying they are). If you go the
latter route (really the best solution for you based on your posts), don't
use a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place.
