GetEngineFiles Error

I get the follwoing error in the aplication log about once an hour.
if i try to go to the page specified in the update path, it says that https
is required. if i try with https i get another error: An error occurred
while processing your request.

what do i need to do to correct this?
I am running SBS2008 x64 as a guest OS on win2008R2 with hyper-v

The compter is an SBS2008 that is a guest OS on Windows 2008 with hyper-v.
the server itself is the domain controller, DNS, etc. the host is not
connected to the domain.
there is no proxy. of course there is a firewall, but I don't think that is
a problem
