When I use the MBSACLI command-line interface to remotely scan a machine
that is not joined to a domain:

"mbsacli /u <remote admin> /p <remote admin password> /target <ip> /n
os+iis+sql+password"

I get this error message:

"Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password"

Any ideas?

Hi there

The answer for you is Yes:).

This is how you can perform a scan, let assume the ip address of the remote
server is 10.10.10.1 and the username is admin1234

1)you can cd to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2>
or you can do set path="C:\Program Files\Microsoft Baseline Security
Analyzer 2"
2)runas /netonly /user:admin1234 mbsa

It will prompt for password and just key in the password the MBSA gui will
pop up,you can perform the scanning there.

I hope you can perform the task and do let me know if you like to ask more
question on this, I be happy to assists you.I can be reach by email or Yahoo
Messenger:)
