Some key improvements have been made in Windows 10 that affect fonts; more details on this are provided below. A side effect of these changes is that a small subset of existing apps created for earlier versions of Windows or Windows Phone may be affected.

As mentioned above, a number of fonts that previously would have been included in every Windows desktop client system have in Windows 10 been moved into optional font features.
The following table gives the complete list of the optional font features and representative language associations. Select fonts that have been moved into these packages are listed; these are fonts that were used as shell user interface fonts in previous Windows versions but have since been superseded by newer Windows fonts.
If you experience these symptoms in some apps on Windows 10 desktop, then you can provide feedback to the app developer suggesting that they update their app for Windows 10. I am trying to learn how to use Hindi on windows 7. I dragged the Mangal font into the font folder in the windows directory, but I still can't see how to use it. When I open the Mangal font, the letters are in English, rather than hindi.
After that I began to suspect that I really don't need the Mangal font, since it seems windows 7 has already got this hindi script. I went to try to remove mangal from the windows font folder but it would not allow that, saying it is a system protected font.

Sorry, Codeplug, but I don't understand. My cmd.exe's font is Lucida Console, and Lucida Console contains those hindi glyphs (as evident by viewing them in Notepad set to Lucida Console), but the Hindi characters appear as boxes in cmd.exe. So what you say is not the complete story.

In order for Connexion client to be able to use the font, ARIALUNI.TTF file (the Arial Unicode MS font) needs to be in the PC's Windows\Fonts folder. It is not included in any version of Windows. It needs to be imported. If you have it in a Windows 7 (or Windows 8/8.1) Windows\Fonts folder from an earlier version of Office, you can copy it from there to your Windows 10 Windows\Fonts folder.
