Dear valued Microsoft® Office Accounting customer:

We are writing to let you know that we will no longer distribute Microsoft

product support for Office Accounting in accordance with the terms of the
support policy.

However, the following add-on services for Office Accounting will be
discontinued on December 15, 2009: online sales through eBay, credit profile
through Equifax, download of tax mappings for tax preparation software and
setting up online banking.

Finally, the old dog is taken out and shot.
Not like we didn't see it coming when it was released.

Well, I most certainly didn't see this coming. Especially seeing all the
development on BCM 2010 recently. I think your assumptions that this is
somehow a "good" thing is confusing at best. It's good that we get 6 weeks
notice before services are disabled? It's good that investment into products
less than 1 year old before them being killed are wasted efforts?

I also sell my clients on these products. Well, I suppose it's good that I
now look like an incompetent fool for suggesting these options?

I am dropping MS Accounting, BCM, and even as a MAPS subscriber I am not
going anywhere NEAR Dynamics CRM workgroup or going to look into Dynamics GP
(as I was thinking of upgrading to next year).

BTW, CRM Workgroup is a joke... it has barely more functionality than BCM
yet is 10x the cost?? for only 5 users??? As a MAPS subscriber I've played
with it and preferred it over BCM 2003/2007 - but at those prices I can't
even begin to suggest it to clients.

It's either settle with Quickbook's problems or some tailored all-in-one
solution for me and my clients from now on.

For those abandoned by Microsoft, and unwilling to compromise by purchasing
glorified checkbook software that has been modified to look like accounting
software, consider the accounting software from A-Systems Corporation. Go to
www.a-systems.net to check it out. I have used it for several years. It
includes accounting, payroll, contact management, and they provide free
online training. I don't know the cost, but it wasn't much.

Oh don't get me wrong...not saying it is a good thing. I've got clients
using it after our recommendation that are now looking at us with
that..."what did you do to us" look. We as well have been using it in-house
for years.
Why I saw it coming is that year after year of updates, general and basic
features that are "expected" in an accounting application were not addressed.
Instead, new features for ebay and paypal and that sort of thing were what
they were all about. Not to mention the overall performance of the product
for general use...never addressed.
So, when I say it was something that was long coming, it is only because
there has never been a real commitment to the product to fix it and make it
operational. We've been with it since the start and have seen some pretty
crazy and just outright dumb issues. Only some of them half addressed.
Not to mention that the last time I was in Redmond, I had a hard time
finding anyone at MS that even knew about the product.
Just all seemed like signs to me.

Hi Wiston,

www.a-systems.net doesn't seem like a great alternative and actually seems
to be suited more to a certain type of industry. I am a manufacturing
software developer and reseller, I am based in Canada but have vendors world
wide and I currently make sales in multiple nations. I like Microsoft
products and I advocate integration between software as a business so to
deviate at all from this would be a cardinal sin in my business model. I am
also a small business and as well as being a very progressive, I actually
believe that the technologies tools are currently avlaible to small
businesses to be able to save time and energy (money) to compete with our
heftier competition.....Well Microsoft seems to not agree with this
philosiphy. We (Small Businesses) don't have the money for Dynaimics and
don't have time or intrest in making Excel work the way we need to have
repeditive tasks automated. We are a big market, we are small in size and we
need to be competitive. This is just another hit for small business in hard
times my view. Microsoft this software is/was a winner, if it was availiable
for more than the pilot areas (US and UK) we could show you that it could be
worth it.

Hi Keith,
As is it possible to change the software language?
Don't mean to use the UK version or the Spanish Language Pack, but,
as this language pack was made, can we make a Brazilian Language Pack as
well, with a SDK version or something?

I'm not a experienced programmer, but I really need MOAP2009 running with a
Brazilian Portuguese interface.

If you know a way to do it, please let me know.

Awaiting your kind answer,
Tks,
Sergio

Its very disappointing that Microsoft has chosen to abandon this product.

There have been several suggestions that if Microsoft does not wish to
continue with this product that they should turn it over to open source and
post it to CodePlex. This would be an optimum solution for those of us that
use and have made an investment in this product.

I haven't seen any response from the Office Accounting Team to these
suggestions. Is there any possibility that Microsoft will turn the source
for MOA over to open source?

Hello,

Microsoft heard their Microsoft Office Accounting users.... They are
now offering 75% OFF the price of Dynamics GP user Licenses for those
that are migrating off MS Office Accounting. Below are the detail
highlights:

It is a US-based promotion specifically for customers of Microsoft
Office Accounting. The promotion is comprised of up to a 75% discount
on all user licenses and A La Carte functionality for up to 10 users
in the first acquisition of Microsoft Dynamics GP. The offer is
affective November 30, 2009, and available until the end of the
business day Friday, June 25th, 2010.

For the small business, this is a perfect opportunity to get a strong,
user friendly, solution at a very low cost. In the past this was
thought to be out of budget for small businesses but with this
promotion, everyone can take advantage of this proven solution. If you
are interested in seeing a FREE demo of Dynamics GP please contact us
at 1800-975-7269.

Thank you.
