This decision of the Accounting Development Executive clearly proves my
earlier point.
For years I have endeavoured to convince Microsoft that simple amendments to
their attitude towards this software - making it available with any base
currency, (not limited to USDollar) and a simple installation set up option
on VAT/GST, and this programme would have suited nearly every small business
on all the continents - and may well have become the most successful
Accounting programme.
But Microsoft fail to listen to us 'small businesses" we don't spend the
thousands of dollars they prefer.
Yet I am sure that were he still in charge, Bill Gates may have seen things
differently. The present mob can't even offer the courtesy of acknowledging
receipt of my letters, let alone reply.
I must admit that I feel like getting a team to reverse-engineer the last
version (2009) and make those changes, so that the software becomes what it
should be.

Sure, one can write a tiny util prg using ado.net to update the
base-currency; but code-signing is a hassle (i.e. smart not to trust
stranger).
VAT/GST & other tax+regulations are very difficult (btw - OA does have a
UK/GB version). Furthermore localization/i18n is not for faint of heart (or
pocket book).
