I just recieved a message from MS regarding the the discontinued development
of Microsoft Accounting Professional 2009. I really like the integration
between Outlook BCM 2007 and the Accounting 2009 software. In fact this is a
primary reason why I purchased Accounting 2009 even though I do business
primaraly in Canada (Not officially supported).

My question is, now that Accounting 2009 is no longer being developed will
it still integrate with Outlook BCM 2010?

I personally think that MS is cutting its throat with small businesses
intrested in utilizing automated tools to increase there effectiveness.

I feel that I am now being forced away from MS solutions in favor of
possibly SAGE for a crm and accounting software given that I was hoping MS
would eventually release a Canadian version (as did alot of people).

I disappointed that I'm not even being given the option to roll into another
MS accounting product! The fact that they will support the current software
for 5 years as per agreements is next to useless considering continued
development is a huge reason why people/organizations purchase software
tools. There are also a slew of tools that are no longer going to be
avaliable..........I paid for the use of those tools and now you are taking
them away?? WTF.

Don't touch Sage or Sage Act. You will end up with no business. It is awful
and we dumped our 2008 version in despair. Review Mamut (which you were
directed to and see whether its CRM (which links in with Outlook supposedly)
is suitable for your kind of business.

Nick,

Mamut doesn't look like they are supporting Canada at all.

That microsoft has decided to decouple BCM / Outlook from OfficeAccounting
through OA SP3 "may" be thefinal hurdle left to enable OA code to be
released on an opensource license, well at least that is what I hope.

PS. Since all is working fine (as far as I can see) and subject to reviewing
the KB's relating to OA SP3,I shall NOT install SP3. Anyone out there that
has spotted any "fundamental" fixes that SP3 offers, please share.

icreateofx,

Are you successfully using / integrating OA2009 SP2 with BCM 2010?

Ken- I use (and have kept) the BCM for Office 2007. I have NOT tried to
install BCM 2010 since, as with Office 2010, Microsoft may have "de-coupled"
it from Office Accounting. Have you had any luck there?

I have not.

I created a clean Win 7, Office 2010, BCM 2010 setup and tried to connect
BCM to OA 2009 SP2.

BCM 2010 "sees" my server-based SQL 08 install of OA / BCM but does not
connect to it.

This a great grief to me. I love the integration...it is perfect for what I
do. There are many things to like about Office 2010. Enormously
frustrating to have to choose between keeping the data integrated and
foregoing BCM 2010 capabilities.

This is one where a complex registry hack would be well worth the effort.
