I'm not certain, but I think you can go to windows registry, go to find,
type in the name you have in word and see if it comes up. If it does you
can change it. In fact I think word runs off the same company name as your
computer anyway, so changing one may well change the other...I was about to
check that to see if it works, but I've spent all day meesing around with
formatting so I haven't managed to put Office back on yet. If I remember
I'll give it a go and get back to you...but it's still worth a try...you can
easily rewrite the string if it doesn't work out.

I am not sure too, but I think u can right click on Network Neighborhood and
then u will have options, and one of them will be where you can put the name of
the company. I am not sure if you have an access to do that, because it might be
disabled by the network administrator.

You CANNOT the details are encoded in the program files when you install
Office.
Office.
The only thing you can change is the user name details that the programs use
to automatically input your details into documents.
Go to Tools......Options.....User Information.

I am having the same problem. In the (Win95) registry I have found under(
HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft MS setup(ACME) User info two keys
Defcompany and Defname. I have changed them but to no effect. Acme.exe
located in the Office\setup folder starts setup (unfortunately it doesnt
run for me).
There is also under hkey_local_machine software microsoft MS office 97
professional 97.0.0.1214 registration the product number and an inventory
path to OFF97INV.DLL. I am not sure but perhaps the information is locked
into this file.
If setup is needed run setup /y then reinstall, I have not used this but I
hear it only overwrites the registry entries for Office. I do not know if
it allows a change in Organisation name-try it!!
