Have a Pub2002 file created by someone else where it adds extra spacing to
the last line of many of the paragraphs. I am running WinXP Pro, they are
running Win98. Both of us are using Pub2002. In many cases on the creators
PC extra spacing is being added after the first line of the paragraph, but
on mine the extra spacing is before the last line of the paragraph.
Note that this is not between paragraph spacing, but within the paragraph
spacing.
I am fairly new to Publisher, but fairly proficient with Word, so have
checked and eliminated as cause any font settings (above / below) and can
find no paragraph setting that adjusts within the paragraph (only before and
after, or entire).
Hopefully someone can advise what might cause such an occurence and what
setting controls it.
The effect is as though the line spacing changed from single to 1.5 for just
the last or first line of the paragraph.

TIA
Danny

the_nerd looks solemnly at his feet. He sees some paper with Daniel
Thody's <Th...@moment.net> name on..

So you've checked Format | Line Spacing | Before paragraph/After paragraph?
This is probably caused by a difference of styles between your and your
friends computers.

yes have checked Format | Line Spacing | Before paragraph/After paragraph?
AFAIK that setting is only supposed to affect the spacing between paragraphs
not within, and messing with hit has had no effect on this issue.
and the problem seems to be somehow related to which font is used - doing a
Ctrl A within the affected text box and then changing the font seems to be
able to make the effect disappear, then reappear if the original font is
again selected. Font corruption has been considered but the effect exists on
several different fonts, and is not consistent with every use of the fonts
which do cause it, so I am still confused. (most problematic font in use is
Gill Sans MT)
Thanks,
Danny

You can get weird formatting at times in Publisher, when the text has been
copied and pasted from some other program. There is no way within Publisher
to remove the formatting.
Copy the text from the text frame to Notepad. Delete the Text Frame in
Publisher and make a new Text Frame and then copy the text back in from
Notepad and save.

Make sure you don't have a larger font character (including the paragraph
mark) in the last line. Using Single/Auto line spacing, the spacing will be
increased to accommodate it.

Hi Danny

The problem you are describing is similar to one I've
experienced using PageMaker 6.0 and 6.5. I have found
that if the space directly after the end of the text in a
paragraph is a larger font size that the actual text, this
throws the spacing out in the last line of the paragraph.
Simply go to the first space after the end of the text in
the paragraph. Double click to highlight the blank
space. Check it is the same font size as the text in the
paragraph. If not, adjust accordingly and the spacing
within the paragraph will now be equal. Good luck.

Regards Jenny
