This is my first time using this service so be gentle with
me :). I can't get publisher to print my designed postcard
on an actual postcard, one at a time . It wants to print
in the middle of an 8 1/2 x 11 with crop marks. I've
tried adjusting paper sizes and customed this and customed
that, but still no luck. I need to print about 1900
postcards using my designed postcard and I need to do it
on my HP LaserJet 1100.

I'm not using perforated sheets of postcards (4 to a sheet
or 6 to a sheet), I'm using pre-stamped Post Office
postcards (3.5 x 5.5). HELP ME, please. I've been
working on this all day.

Anytime I print something other than the standard 8 1/2 x 11 letter size, I
still use letter size and then position the image (like a single postcard,
envelope, or deposit slip) so that it corresponds to the item being printed.
On some printers such as my old Lexmark 5700 or my new Canon s820 the item
is positioned at the right side of the paper feed. On my Lexmark E312 it is
positioned in the center. I've used a bunch of different printers and this
procedure always works for me. In the past I've printed (addressed using
mail merge) thousands of envelopes and cards this way and never had a
problem. Be sure to cut out some cheap card stock or paper to the postcard
size for your testing. Don't use the real thing until you've got the
positioning nailed down.

Thanks for responding, Ron. I've tried repositioning the
postcard, but because my printer prints it in the middle
of the 8 1/2 x 11, both vertically and horizontally, all I
get are the bottom crop marks at the top of my postcard.
I need another alternative. You'd think it would be
simple, if they could send a man to the moon... I have
1900 of these puppies to print and I need to be able to
put multiple postcards into my printer feed slot at a
time. What's the point of a printer giving you the option
to feed a smaller size paper (etc. postcard) if the
application won't print where it should? I'm afraid I
won't be able to use my publisher for my small business.
Any other ideas????

Jeff, Setup the postcards as envelopes. In the page setup, choose envelopes, custom,
set the margins to 5.5 x 4.25. In the printer setup, set a custom size as width 4.25
x 5.5. You will feed the postcards in the envelope tray of your printer. (This is
assuming your printer can be setup this way). I have a HP 5000 and can do this type
of setup.
