I have designed a 4 sheet (front, middle 1, middle 2, and back) as an
invitation. This is set up as a 4.25"x 5.5" top fold card. How do I set up
Publisher and HP 7280 All-in-one printer to print on card stock. I expect to
use two side printing, but Publisher does not have print set up for these
standard size cards.

You will need 4.25" x 11" card stock OR use 8.5" x 11" stock which you plan
to cut to size after printing the invitations.
I'm going to assume you will be using 8.5" x11" stock.

This will create two invitations per sheet of stock.
(This is using Publisher 2000 settings but should get you going in the right
direction)

Set Printer Up:
File
Print setup
Size: Letter 8.5x11in.
Source: Automatically Select
Portrait
(This is probably your default setting - don't change)

Set Card Dimensions:
File
Page Setup
Special Size
Width: 4.25"
Height: 11"
OK

Arrange
Layout Guides
Set Margins (not less than your printer will allow)
Columns: 1
Rows: 2
OK

Insert
Page
OK

You are now ready to create your invitation.
Looking at the two panels on page 1, the upper half is invitation page 4.
Anything in this panel will need to be rotated 180 before printing.
(The only thing printed on invitation page 4 might be, "Card created
especially for you by Jim." etc...
The lower panel is invitation page 1. (The only panel that doesn't need to
be rotated 180).

Publisher page 2, the upper half is invitation page 3.
Anything in this panel will need to be rotated 180 before printing.
The lower panel is invitation page 2.
Anything in this panel will need to be rotated 180 before printing.

Suggest after creating the invitation you print a test card using plain
paper to verify settings are correct and all looks the way you wish it.
(The separation between the upper and lower panels may need some
adjustment - check to be satisfied).

Note: Each 8.5"x11" card stock will print two invitations.

Good luck on the card project and may the function be outstandingly
successful.

Thank you Don for a detailed posting! I still have a problem because my card
stock is 4.25" x 5.5" top folded, so when I unflold the cards it is 5.5" x
8.5" or 11" x 4.5". Either way I can not see how to set up printing within
Publisher to get card sides on existing stock. The design has front sign 1
with text and photos, the side 2 (inside upper when card unfolded) and side 3
(inside lower) and side 4 back all have text. I want just a single fold.
Publisher has setup for 8.5 x11 as you described, but not for a top folded
card as I have, however, Publisher does support this card in design. Maybe I
have tunnel vision in considering this problem, but I can not see how
Publisher allows me to set up a print source as 5.5' x 8.5" or 4.25" x 11",
single fold. You mentioned this can be done, but your example was for 8.5" x
11". Could you take the time to go step by step as you have to set print
source for this situation. Again, thanks for your time and interest
Regards
Jim

Jim,

File
Print setup
Properties
Features tab
Paper sizes
Custom
Name: add Invitation Card 4.25x11
Save
Width: 4.25
Length: 11
OK
OK

Now to verify,
File
Print setup
Size: Select Invitation Card 4.25x11
OK

The File, Page setup remains the same as given before.
