I have invoice PDF where the shop's software uses Courier New and Courier New Bold fonts. However, both Evince and fc-match decide (assuming through Fontconfig) that my Windows 8.1 original Courier New Bold in courbd.ttf is not the best match and it decides to use DejaVu Sans Book instead. This completely breaks the PDF rendering in Evince.

For detailed information, please, read the files (e.g., readme.txt) from archive or visit the website given by an author (designer) or contact with him if you have any doubt.

If there is no reported author (designer) or license, it means that there is no information on the given font, but it does not mean that the font is free.

I have ROOT 6.24 and I have compiled it from source on void linux. I am having this weird font on my histograms. Even if I try to change, it stays the same. I have deleted everything and recompile a couple of times. Does anyone have any idea, why is it so? I also tried to tweak using .rootrc but nothing changed.

I have a similar installation on the same platform on another system where everything is fine.

echo $ROOTSYS outputs nothing, but that maybe because I dont source any shell script to load root. I have it in my /usr/bin/. But even when I export $ROOTSYS to /usr/share/root and ls $ROOTSYS will give the fonts I attached in the screenshot above, nothing changes.

I fixed the problem though thanks to the comment above with all the font name. I copied all the font from /usr/share/root/fonts on my other machine to this one. Everything works fine. Thank you so much

First, you have to decide if you want to use core protocol or Xft for font rendering. As you see in another answer, xfontsel is the right tool to get a correct font name for core protocol. But it's unlikely to be what you want for truetype fonts (do you want antialiasing? Then Xft is your choice).

Other applications may have their own conventions for X11 and Xft font names. E.g. the same xft: prefix is used by emacs; xterm uses faceName and renderFont resources to determine whether to use Xft and which font to request; xedit supports core protocol only. The mere fact that the application is configurable from X resources isn't enough to tell how the font names are interpreted.

I'm trying to use the following command to generate a font that contains the standard ASCII characters followed by the 26 Hebrew characters that begins in 0X5D0. After multiple trying a realize that the command doesn't recognize the -o and -t switches

The reason is that I use this font as my code editor's default font in IntelliJ Idea 10on Windows XP and I recently moved to an Ubuntu system and want the same font in Intellij Idea.

Currently on Ubuntu I get Courier New as the TrueType of Monospaced, and it is clearly not the same font as the one used on Windows XP.

On Ubuntu Monospaced font is different, it's by design, however Courier New looks the same as on Windows XP except different aliasing/hinting/rendering which is also by JVM design. You can see how to tweak it from the IDEA issue linked above.

Would you please try to place Lucida Console font as well inside the system and try again. Also, please try using Aspose.PDF for Java 20.11 and let us know if problem still persists by sharing complete error information along with Stack Trace. We will further proceed to assist you accordingly.

For the official distribution Windows version build, for example if you put ffmpeg on c:/Program Files/ffmpeg-3.3.2-win64-shared,this file seems to work if put in c:/Program Files/ffmpeg-3.3.2-win64-shared/bin/fonts/.

For the Unix family, especially if you intend to rely on a package manager, it will probably install the right one in the right place.Otherwise, you can probably know by reading the fontconfig manual.

You can use any font as long as it is a true type font. Consider using the one included with your TexLive installation. Not limited to this, non-Windows fonts are often stored in structured directories:

Inside the fonts folder there are the .ttf files (cour.ttf, courbd.ttf, courbi.ttf, couri.ttf) and the fonts1260992387609.xml. This originally pointed to /fonts/fonts1260992387609.xml (note the slash before fonts). It couldn't find it with the slash so I removed it. ??

I assume you had pdfFont="cour.ttf". That works when you have cour.ttf as a resource on the classpath (at the root package level), which was not the case. pdfFont="fonts/cour.ttf" would have worked for you.

I'm trying to change the default teletype font \texttt to courier new using the corresponding .ttf file and \newfontfamily. Unfortunately, no matter what combination of commands I try, using \renewcommand does not update the teletype font to my desired font. Note that I cannot use pdflatex or the courier package because I'm compiling with XeLaTeX and have to use fontspec.

To get the cloud fonts, your device needs to be online and connected to the Internet. In apps running on Windows, go to File > Account, select Manage Settings under Account Privacy, and turn on Optional connected experiences. Clearing the check box turns off cloud fonts and other online services from Microsoft.

Additional fonts, including a variety of popular open-source fonts, user interface and seldom used fonts are provided for document compatibility purposes. These are only listed in font menus if you view or edit content that uses them.

For an illustrated counterpart of this list that shows a sample of each font, see A Guide to Cloud Fonts in Microsoft Office 365, created by Julie Terberg, presentation designer and owner of Terberg Design.

Is that fc-match output from before you added the symbola rule? I was assuming before you added the rule to use symbola, that some other font was used - I'd like to know which one. I'm not familiar with ttf-symbola so it'd be good to rule that out as the cause of the problems. As mentioned I can see that when the Symbol font is matched/provided by ttf-dejavu or Verdana (from ttf-ms-fonts) the pdf displays fine here.

The root causes of TTF errors associated with courbd.ttf include a missing or corrupt file, or in some cases, a past or present Windows-related malware infection. Downloading and replacing your TTF file can fix the problem in most cases. As a last measure, we recommend using a registry cleaner to repair any invalid courbd.ttf, TTF file extension, and other file path references which could be causing the error message.

Although the majority of error courbd.ttf messages will be solved if the file is placed in the correct file location on your hard drive, you should run a quick test to be sure. You can test the result by running Windows application and seeing if the issue still appears.

Windows-related courbd.ttf errors often happen during the install of a courbd.ttf-related software, during Windows shutdown or startup, or while a Microsoft-related device driver is being loaded. It's essential to note errors with courbd.ttf as they happen, as it helps troubleshoot Windows-related problems, and report them back to Microsoft.

Where filename gives the location of the fontset file of the system. The location of the system fontset file could for instance be/usr/share/fonts/truetype/font.list (Debian) or C:/ms4w/apps/etc/fonts.txt (MS4W).The location can be specified using a relative or absolute path. Here isan example using relative paths (relative to the mapfile):

You can add and configure PostScript Type 1 fonts tosignificantly expand your options for displaying and printing PSand PDF reports, beyond those provided by the basic set of fontsdistributed with Adobe Reader. Thousands of PostScript fonts are availableto make your reports more stylish and useful, including some thatsupport symbols and bar codes.

When you execute a report and specify oneof these formats as your display format, the WebFOCUS ReportingServer retrieves the data and begins to format the report. Fonts andimages specified in the StyleSheet must be available to the ReportingServer to create the output file. It reads the font informationfrom the font files and embeds that information into the document. The font itself is stored on the Reporting Server.

You can also use a variety of utilities to convert Windows TrueType fonts (such as Arial and Tahoma) into Type 1 fonts. Verifythat you are licensed for this type of font use. Then, after youconvert them, you can define and map these fonts for use by WebFOCUS.

Locatethe necessary font files (AFM and PFB or PFA). These files shouldbe available in the location where the fonts were originally installed. You will be copying these files to a location from which they canbe accessed by the WebFOCUS Reporting Server.
