HI, I have the publisher deluxe. My problems is when I
increase the size of the picture it gets fuzzy. Is there
anyway around this ?

Which picture?
Check View > Pictures and set it to "Detailed display"
I assume this is Publisher 2002 (as yo said Publisher Deluxe, which is the
only one available in Deluxe AFAIK)
Otherwise, get a higher-resolution graphic (scan at a higher resolution).
If the graphic is coming from the web and there is no high-res version, you
*might* be able to convert it to a vector format in CorelDraw, otherwise
there is no workaround.

This is not the newsgroup for Home Publisher. You need to toddle over to
the kiddies newsgroup for that product.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.pictureit
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.home.publishing

That is what happens when you enlarge a Bitmapped image picture. If you
scanned this picture, you need to enlarge it when you scan it.

You enlarge it while you are scanning the picture. If you need a picture

Publisher 2000 had a Deluxe which included Picture It! Publishing as well.
Publisher 98 Deluxe? Not sure if there was one..
Publisher 97 Deluxe just included addtional Clipart.

Just an FYI for your AFAIK, OK? :-)

Try this.

Scan a 1 inch by 1 inch image at 300 dpi and 150 percent size. Scan the
same image at 450 dpi and 100 percent size. The file sizes in pixels
will be the same. But, place them both in a layout program. You'll find
the one scanned at 150 percent can be enlarged better.

Brian,

This NG has been just plain weird recently. Others' posts don't appear
for what seems to be hours according to the Date/Time in Netscape. But
the time on the post is correct. My clock is off by a few minutes,
usually 3-6, depending on how often I reset it (a CMOS battery that
isn't quite what it used to be?).

Sometimes it's not the clock that's wrong but the time zone setting.

Mike,

If the clock loses time while the PC is on, then it CANNOT be the battery.
That only maintains the clock while the PC is off. There are many things
that can shove a clock off, the Live Update! of Norton SW, McAfee Office are
two of the main culprits.

Suzanne and Sarah,

I'm on Eastern Daylight Time, the only AV software I run is AVG and
ZoneAlarm. My clock always seems to be a little behind, but only by a
few minutes, not by hours. In the last couple of days, posts have weird
time stamps on them, even direct e-mail. Except mine - this one will
appear within a minute or so after it is sent.

Personally, I think the clones zapped me to their world and applied a
time warp to mine. Of course, I could be wrong.

Your header is showing Fri, 17 May 2002 20:15:43 -0700. If you're really on
EDT, that last figure should be -0400, so you probably have your computer
set to the wrong time zone. See Control Panel | Regional Settings.

Pub2002 had PictureIt Photo, not Publishing (which would be pretty

OK, so what does this "%" setting in the scanning software do? Mine doesn't
have it, so to make a better quality image you have to increase the
resolution. I see no point in having a zoom setting, which would
(presumably) scale the image when it had been uploaded to the PC, which
would be a bitmap and so would pixelate. Unless, of course, the % setting
changes the resolution of the scanner rather than scaling it.
Hey, I'm not choosing to get up!

UK person, you must have some odd ball non-descript non-compliant non-event
UK brand of scanner from the back of the cornflakes packet. Every scanner I
have ever seen has this feature. To date, I have never seen a UK scanner as
they are probably such poor quality they could not stand the warranty claims
overseas. In the UK there is no customer service so they would not have to
worry about claims or warranty.
