I just read a recent post where someone asked if it is possible to change the interface for AutoCAD Mac to look more similar to that of AutoCAD windows, and it was replied to that that is not possible. My question is simliar but not completely the same; I am taking an AutoCAD class and will be using it reguarly in my major discipline. Part of the reason I even bought a new Macbook Pro was because of the new support for Mac across the programs required by my University's college. Now that I'm starting AutoCAD, I'm being told that I'll be required to purchase Bootcamp or Parallels, and use the windows version, rather than the mac version. My questions are:

1. How different from the windows version is the Mac version? My teacher replied with the statement "I will be teaching the Windows version, so you will be required to use that." Are they exceptionally different from each other? Even if they are, will it be possible for me to figure things out? I have moderate experience with AutoCAD 2010 for Windows.

3. The above questions are not possible to do. For anyone with a similar experience, what is the best way to run a windows based program on a Mac? I am looking for optimum efficiency and lowest price.

I am planning to learn autocad but use a mac. I was going to download the free month to see how it goes. If I create files through the MAC version can those be easily opened in a pc version of autocad and updated, modified, etc.? I do not want to have to buy a pc if possible. Thanks

I am a pc user an have auto cad Lt 2006 with created dwg files. I am making the transition to A MacBook Pro with a mac version of auto cad LT. The question is if I put my pc dwg files on a USB can I be able to view and edit these on my mac or do I need some software to convert windows dwg to mac dwg.

I am currently creating a windows form application that needs to open autocad .I have done it for Autocad 2014.Is there any way we can do this task workable not just for single version but for any version. In addition to this I have created dll for 2014 which worked fine.By altering the references acmgd.dll and acdbmgd.dll i got it worked on 2007 too.Is there any way except this to create a dll orking in all version. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I was using the program which is AutoCAD 2012 with my old computer that it was Windows. But now, Im using Macbook. So, the problem is that how can I change the macosx surface to windows'. Is it possible to do that?

There is a picture that I took the macosx surface.

I've been trying for a week to install it onto my newly bought PC but nothing seems to work. I've tried all download/install methods several times and I still cannot figure out what is going wrong. My teacher has suggested that it might be because I have the home version of windows and since I saw no posts talking about this specifically I thought I'd ask directly.

As we have seen in multiple posts, the Windows 10, Version 1709 Update messes with AutoCad.

For me, after the update when I open Cad it takes me back to the "License/Register" product dialog. And when I input the license information it closes Cad and after that every time I try and open it, Cad goes away, doesn't open just closes.

I've tried almost every solution from reverting to a previous windows version to veruninstalling the C++ libraries. Nothing seems to work.

In the end, my only solution is to completely re-install windows (which means re-installing all my drivers and other programs including Cad.) I have had to do this three times now since I cannot turn off Windows Automatic Update.

I just recently did a re-install, so my next one will probably be in a few weeks when Windows updates automatically. So any solutions you might have I will not try till then, but I'm happy to try any solution anyone has!

If nothing else, I am hoping this spurs enough commentary that AutoDesk has a discussion with Windows and the next update fixes the issue of the 1709 update.

Thanks

Just checked, Autocad 2012 would not install on my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, 64bit, that was awhile ago 2012. Looking at somwthing better now (win10, autocad 2016). no worries, the future is friendly.

Autodesk stopped authorizing new installation of software 2010 and older as of August 2019: You are too late now.

If you still have an old PC running AutoCAD2014 you can keep using it forever or for as long as that lasts. Also check out this tip from another user for an alternative, it may or may not work (I did not try it)

TLDR summary: You paid for the product. But not for support, not free downloads forever either. You are responsible yourself for keeping your old system going nd maintaining copies of the installers too. Autodesk did not promise much more. Sorry. Not much we end user griping about it will change the realities above.

Dear all I recently installed Autocad2000, Autocad 2000 Migration Assistant, Autocad 2000 Learning Assistant (all help files and video's are functional) using Longbow Software from The Longbow software installs Autocad 2000 which is completely functional in Windows 10 version 2020 including express tools and other Autocad 2000 updates needed. Longbow's software works very well. Windows 10 removed ability to open the old help files, I had to replace the windows 10 "winhlp32.exe" to get the help system to work, this was a bit involved but can be done via -to-open-hlp-winhelp-files-in-windows-10/

I just bought a dell 8960 windows 11 with ddr5 memory and all the fast gadgets. I had acad lt 2000 on my last computer which was windows 7 upgraded to windows 10. Didn't want to pay over $150.00 for the software that I used to put it on windows 7, so I tried replacing the setup file with a setup32 file and guess what? All I had to do after the install was to copy a few dll files to the acad directory and it works just like it did back in the XP days.

I read the first page so someone may have answered the question on page 2 or 3, but they officially come out with a (early)late release of windows 3.0 with AutoCAD 12 which was a "beta" for Windows and then they come out with their "official version of AutoCAD 12 "For Windows". That's how they marketed it. I still remember it and still have the 4 or 5 1.44 disks

Actually it turns out that windows and the adesk interface with windows was more to blame for r13 being a dog than he program itself. I regularly create animation rendering files with r13 on windows 7 64 bit machine that literally run for days without crashing. And it is the only legacy release the doesn't have issues with 7. I believe the problem was in the ms*****.dll files that came with 13. It even became a lot more stable once 2000 was installed on any machine. 9x me or XP ( I skipped Vista )

AFAIK, simplex is designed to work with plotters. It is not designed

to look like old hand-drawn stencils, but rather to minimize the number

of moves that a plotter pen has to make in order to minimize the time

needed to make a plot (while still maintaining the legibility of the

drawn letters). (And if you have a slow pen plotter you will know

what I mean: try using duplex or even triplex fonts in plots and you

will notice the time difference.) The name simplex just means "a single

pass of the pen"; so it is not one font, but a class of fonts which can

be drawn this way.--
