One group our helpdesk supports has a Dymo Labelwriter 550 Turbo that they want to share among several people. We have the device on LAN, configured with an IP and responding to ping. We have the software (Dymo Connect 1.4.3.131) installed on a couple of laptops, and if we bring the laptop to the printer and connect via USB, the thing works. However, what we want is to have the device on LAN and available to any user who has the software, desktop or laptop, and we can't get the thing to work. We're supposed to be able to start the software and choose "add network printer" and have the device show in a list of available printers - but it never does.

Thanks for the reply. We have a Windows print server, but that is not how this device is used. According to manufacturer, anyone who wants to print to the labelwriter needs to have the Dymo software installed, and then they add the printer from within that software. This makes me think there is some discovery routine or advertising protocol that it uses, but nothing in the user guide suggests we have to do anything more than give the device and IP, install the software, and connect over the LAN.
It doesn't have any "configure network" choice. It doesn't have any choices at all. Does this mean I need to connect the Labelwriter via USB, then make the change you note, and then remove it from my system and connect it to each other potential user to do the same?
I think I was unclear on what I was trying to do. You've told me how to set up the network interface on the LabelWriter, but I already knew that. When I connected via USB, the printer was available in Dymo Connect, but once I disconnect the USB, it was gone and not discoverable. It has an IP address, but it's not available over the network yet.
I was going to reply to this with "I tried that, the windows add printer routine says it can't find the printer at that address." But, after doing the above "connect via USB" routine, I noticed that my list of devices had the printer listed but offline. So I went to the queue properties and tried to add a standard IP port for that printer. Still said it couldn't find one, but I pressed onward and started the Dymo Connect software - lo and behold, the LabelWriter shows up. Thanks for the help.
I'm using the new DYMO SDK Dymo.Connect.SDK provided by NuGet in a Windows Forms app (.Net Framework 4.8). I want to list all available dymo printers. When debugging the app or starting the exe, everything works fine and the printer is found. When I deploy the app as ClickOnce, no printer is found.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Unplug the printer completely for 10 minutes and plug back in
- Completely uninstall shipstation connect including the %appdata% folders
- Make sure the account logged into connect and shipstation are the same
I've had some issues with ShipStation Connect in the past. What's helped is, erasing ALL hooked up computers to connect. Then, re-add your new computer back to Connect. You should be able to find it that way. Also, make sure it's not hidden on your list of printers through Shipstation, otherwise that could be another reason why you can't find the printer. Hope this helps! If you still can't get it to work, download Loom and take a video showing the errors/issues you're having and include a link to the video in an email to support
shipstation.com and they should be able to help you get it fixed with their Printing Team.

I purchased a windows 10 desktop and apparently the microsoft framework is not allowing the dymo printer to be installed. Dymo tech people couldn't install it either. Any suggestions? or should I take it to the IT person to look at?
