Hi does someone know if it is possible to surf using a proxy without
entering the proxy in the Internet Options?

Do you have to include it in the url-address you are willing to surf to?

I am on a LAN. We have MSProxy 2.0 SP1 on an NT Server SP6a. I can surf the
net all day long normally without the proxy info entered in the Internet
options. (IE & Netscape)
I can do this as long as there is an internet connection already
established. I can't cause the proxy to dial the modem in this
configuration. I am not actualy using the Proxy, just the open internet
connection it provided. Also I don't use the cache that MS Proxy installs so
in theory my access is a bit slower than someone that uses the proxy and has
access to the cache.

The clients are using a browser which is Proxy aware without the WSPclient.
They use the Web proxy service, not the Winsock Proxy Service.

I believe Danny's workstation has Winsock proxy client installed on his
local machine. Danny's proxy server does not enable restrictions on the
winsock proxy service. Thus each machine really points to the proxy through
the msp client icon in the control panel. Danny is really bypassing the
proxy server because the proxy server is not limiting access on the winsock
service. If the winsock service did not allow access to any protocols, then
the client would not be able to get out to the internet without having the
proxy setup in the internet connection properties.
