Hi all!

I'm trying to use VPN through my proxy. Does anyone have a manual for
that?

I'm also trying to allow my clients to read newsgroups through my proxy.
Does anyone know how?

Not possible to VPN through proxy. Best you can do is setup proxy as a VPN
server to accept or recieve VPN connections

Install the WSP client on the workstations and grant NNTP access in the
winsock service (See the FAQ for more).

Jeff (or someone else),

One of my clients is a laptop from an external consultant. He would like to
be able to connect to his own network. My boss thinks that this is a good
idea. Has anyone got any idea's about how this can be done? Is it enough to
setup my proxy as vpn server? How do I do that?

Install RRAS and have the Proxy make the outbound call.

That requires the consulting company to allow connections from another
administrative domain - I think any security policy treats this
unacceptable.

I think there are two choices: either bypass VPN/IP and make direct dial, or
move the notebook to DMZ and allow traffic to the VPN server from there.

Port Guardian will certainly handle the NNTP problem with ease. Will
also furnish access control and logging. Will also allow configuration
for a number of other purposes. The 'Plus" version will furnish
secure high-speed drive mapping while preserving the user's open
internet access. Might be better for your needs than MS-VPN.

Please read the article. It states exactly as I said. You cannot and will
not be able to VPN through proxy using the winsock client, but you can setup
the proxy itself to make the VPN connection. Next time make sure you know
what you are talking about.

Oh ! I know, we 'er VPN'ing from router or modem to network router-ace
server-firewall 1 then from that point it's over to dear old Ms networking to
proxy server where all users are logged and nannies then back out to the
internet for surfing.
