I can't seem to get proxy and outlook 2000 to play nice. When I enable packet
filtering outlook can't send mail. I've tried a custom filter for ports 110 and
25, still no go. Any suggestions, the work arounds in tech don't. short of not
packet filtering and running zone alarm I'm lost.

You need to install/enable the proxy *client*.
