Hi all,
My users need to FTP files back and forth from Unix Servers to NT servers.
IIS 4.0 and MS Proxy 2.o are installed on the BDC, and I can FTP the BDC but
not the PDC although I had setup a virtual FTP directory on the PDC machine.
Please tell me what need to be setup oin IIS or Proxy server to get the PDC
accept FTP calls,
Please send me a copy of your reply to my email address.

Thanks a million,

Hmmm. I would try logging security and see what it says in the log files
when you are failing to FTP. It's probably more of an issue like the iusr
account can't log on locally or something similar...like it does't trust the
Proxy server's iusr acount!

You need to install the IIS - FTP service to run on the PDC if you wish to
log into the PDC. If you are only trying to get files from the PDC, then
use a virtual directory from the BDC and point to the location on the PDC.
Make sure file permissions are set for either the anonymous account, or the
specific user account that is logging in.

Hi Bill

Here some questions, which might help you to sove or us to understand
your problem:

What error message do you get, when changing to the virtual
FTP-Directory?

Did you uncheck the checkboxes 'Allow Anonymous Connections' and 'Allow
only anonymous connections' in the 'Security Accounts Properties' of
your 'Default FTP Site'?

Does the virtual FTP directory have the 'Write' checkbox checked?

Do your users have the proper NTFS settings on the physical directory of
the PDC virtual FTP directory?

Do you get any more information about failed access, when you turn
'Audit' on the directory of the PDC?

Hope this helps

Best

Hi Stephane,
I unchecked "Allow only anonymous connections" and it worked! BTW, I setup a
virtual directory for a share from the PDC as suggested by David Martin.
Then I ran into permission problems, but finally got it fixed.
Thank you all for your assistance.
