Hi,

Does anybody know how I can make Windows 98 act as a proxy for another
computer.

I have a network with two computers and the windows 98 computer is
connected to the internet. I would like the second computer to connect
to the internet too through the first one.

Any other solution is welcome.

Thank You,
Florian

Florian,

Windows 98 SE can use Internet connection sharing an explanation of this
ability is maintained at http://www.microsoft.com/INSIDER/ARTICLES/ics.htm .
If you have Windows 2000 you can also take advantage of this however, these
are not Proxy servers they are NAT enabling processes for a Dialup
connection.

You can share the Internet connection by installing a proxy server or
network address translation (NAT) program. I've had good luck with
SyGate, from <http://www.sygate.com>. There are many other similar
programs listed at:

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/freeshare.htm

Windows 98 Second Edition and Windows Me have an Internet Connection
Sharing feature built in.

Please see these sites for more information on modem sharing:
