I want to set WEB proxy to allow to use only for authenticated clients.
i set so in permissions. But in log it still shows that anonymous is using
this service. If I disable anonymous in www server settings - than web proxy
shows in log domain/user - as I want it to be. but in this case I am not
able to access www from outside.
what should I do to allow access to my web server and to restrict access to
web proxy only for authenticated users at the same time?

In order to enable access control and allow for anonymous web proxy you need
the fix from Q190997.

I have that hot-fix installed. Just to clarify - I want to allow anonymous
access to www server and authenticated access to web proxy at the same time.
Right now web proxy allows anonymous to use it, and only start to use
authentication if I turn off anonymous access in WWW server settings. But in
this case nobody can access my WWW server from outside

(sorry for repeating - just to clarify everything)

Same answer, Q190997 lists this as possible now...

Doesn't work for me. I checked all the files listed there. Just a second ago
got another problem - the Auto-Dial configuration doesn't see my phonebook
(though it saw it when I installed proxy). I had to type everything
manually - name of dial-up entry and all other stuff, only than I was able
to work again. (packet filter was failing to start without it)
any ideas why it doesn't see it?

PS have anything been able to divide authentication settings for web proxy
and www at all?

I found it - Q174922
a.. Double-click "Default Web Site" to open and expand its contents.
b.. Double-click "SCRIPTS" to open and expand its contents.
c.. Click "Proxy".
d.. Right-click and select "Properties".
e.. Click the "Directory Security" tab.
f.. In "Password Authentication", click "Edit

now there u have to turn off anonymous, and leave anon... in www main
settings. works perfectly

PS Jeff sorry for email (wrong button ;)

Those are dependent by design so I don't know what you mean?
