I had proposal workflow functioning but it stopped! A blog I read
suggested changing ssp accounts could break workflow. To investigate
further I rebuilt vm with sql2005, moss and ps (infrastructure
release) but no success. In the proposal properties page there is no
workflow section and no work flow is apparent in the proposal workflow
webpart. The system has one admin user who creates the proposal, and
one proposal reviewer to receive the workflow. A mail server is not
enabled. I cannot see any errors in sharepoint logs.

Any suggestion as to reason or mechanism for debugging?

Thanks

Mike

You could increase the verbosity of the diagnostic logging to see if that gives any useful info. You should also follow these (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197595.aspx) instructions to find the actual workflow settings and examine them.

Also, you may be hitting a design change made in SP1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947284.

Hi Stephen

I have rebuilt system using slipstreamed moss\ps(Infrastructure
update)
I believe I have proposals set up correctly.
Within shared folders I can set up workflows to kick off manually or
automatically and the status can be seen in the task webpart and these
work as expected. But still no joy with proposals.

I compared my VM with the sample VM available from MS where I can see
proposal workflows functioning. I did a side by side comparison. I
notice these differences:

Version settings:Proxy Proposal List - Only users who can approve
items (cf Any user who can read items)

The MSP VM has NT Authority\authenticated users as a group with
"Limited Access" permissions. I can create this group but I cannot
associate with this permission level. The only places I see this
permission (e.g farm admin) it is greyed out and non-editable.

My next step is to try the infrstructure patch and see if it makes a
difference.

regards

Mike
