Recently our admin added a resource from Companys Active directory to
the Ent Resr pool of MSP

However due to some reason, though it got added in the MSP_RESOURCES
table, it did not get added to the MSP_WEB_RESOURCES table.

So,

1) When we again try to add to the Ent resrc pool, it prompts
duplicate resrc name
2) But when we try to find in the resrc list , the name does not
appears.
3) Also it is not seen in PWA admin screen

During the resrc addition step , the transaction did not complete and
failed to add to the MSP_WEB table.

how can we ,
1) Remove the orphan record from the MSP_RESRC table
2) If we delete this record , will it impact elsewhere
3) how safe it is to do the above action

Kindly let us know , how can we rectify the situation.

Your new USER added from Active Directory is probably a member of the Team
Members group - see if you can find them in this group, it is an anomaly of
the AD synch that people do not appear in the users list when added from AD.
Whilst the user may have been added they will not have been added as a
Resource - there is a tick box option to allow the user to be assigned as a
resource, tick that and you should have a new Enterprise Resource.

Hi Dominic,

Thanks for the reply, i will try this on monday morning India time.

So there is no need to manually delete the record from the
MSP_RESOURCES table.
Also once we check mark the resrc name from the team members group
would it automatically add the resrc to the pool ? . Also will it
appear in the PWA resrc list as well ?

One point is that , then why this time only it did not appear in the
Enterprise resrc pool. each time the admin does the same steps to add
the resrc to the pool.

Thanks again for the reply.

We are unable to find the area where you pointed to tick the checkbox
in the Team Developers group.

PN : We are using Project Server 2003 version.

If you can tell us precisely the link where we can do the stated
suggestion, which wud help us in overcoming the problem.

Hi Amit,

Are you seeing the enterprise resource pool when you open the
enterprise resource pool? The most important thing to remember,
Windows authentication is required in order for a user to use Active
Directory to add resources to the Enterprise Resource Pool.

Please do the following:

1) Launch MS Project Professional by connecting with Admin account
2) Tools -> Enterprise Options -> Open Enterpirse Resource Pool
3) Select all the enterprise resources /ReadWrite to CheckOut; Click
Open/Add
4) Add Work group column and make sure windows login credentials are
apperaing (To make sure they added to PWA) for each enterprise
resource

Also you can read the following about issues related AD
synchronization:

Thanks

Thanks for the information.

We did manage to workaround the problem by doing trial and error.

like creating the user from PWA and deleting from "clean up project
server" option.

thanks a ton for all the help .
