Hours split in Project Pro 2007 when updating Project from PWA 200

reverted to fractional hours in Project Professional and we are not sure why.
As just one example, a resource imports a timesheet containing whole (not
fractional) hours to update his tasks, and then submits the tasks update to
the project manager.
The project manager approves the task updates and then sees that the updated
hours are not sucked into the project as they were entered into the time
sheet.

in PWA becomes...
M T W T F
2.5h 2.5h 9h 6h 8h
in Project Professional - the 5 hours on Monday was split in two between
Monday and Tuesday and then the rest of the hours were all offset a day going
forward.
Can anyone offer an explanation? Thank you.

MSP will automatically do this for the task /resource ..when updates are
pushed thru at the PWA level..

Now I am trying to understand why timescaled actuals splited unpredictedly
between days. Timesheet does not matter, you may see such spliting in
Project 2007 Pro in timescaled assignment views (Task Usage for eaxmple)
I was totally sure that actuals could not be changed after approving ones by
PM. But ...
I think it may depends on administrative time entered by user.
If I find something new I post ..

We have just started migrating our projects from 2003 to 2007 and have discovered some of our tasks are showing "bizarre" actual hours splits.
I haven't seen this resolved anywhere else.
What was the cause or resolution here?
