"show markup" button is grayed out. Why? How to un-gray it?

I want to track changes but I can't use the "show markup" button. What's wrong?

Hi Pam

PowerPoint doesn't have track changes - which "show markup" button do you
mean? And which version are you using?

As well as Lucy's comments ..

Did you (or someone else) add markup? The button will always be greyed out
if there's no markup to show,

Oh and ...

Sorry maybe that's misleading.

As Lucy said there's no track changes in PPT! Show markup just shows
comments added by reviewers
