Does anyone know of a converter from HG to PP? MS says it can only convert
HG for DOS, not windows. I have a friend who has some files to convert and I
can't find anything to help.

Any help would be appreciated.

There isn't any converter, I'm afraid. There's some info on my site about
converting between incompatible presentation programs though.

No converters that I know off. However if you have HG for Windows installed
on the same machine as PowerPoint. Then you can do a Copy /Paste. From Slide
Sorter view in Harvard Graphics, copy a slide, and then paste it onto a
blank slide in PowerPoint. It is a pain staking process because you have do
this one slide at a time.. : (
Happy pasting.

Acting upon the info in the MS help file, I once tried saving a HGW file
down to HG for DOS. Upon importing to PPT all I got were black slides. No,
really! Black. Nothing else! Just...black. No background, no color, no
sounds, no effects, no text. Some of the graphics came in, but they were
all ungrouped and therefore un-useable (couldn't resize or adjust color or
even move the blasted things without a huge hassle).

The user had HGW and HG for DOS on the same machine, so I opened the
saved-down file in HG for DOS and it looked fine to me. (So I'm not sure
that PPT can even deliver on it's claims to convert from the older format
anyway.)

Since the original slides were "talky" (far too much text for a good slide
show, IMNSHO) I was able to export the text in outline (indented) format as
a single .txt file, from HG. I don't remember how, but I believe I found
the info in the help files. I'm sure the cut and paste process was tedious,
but it was better than typing, I guess. Plus, she didn't have to navigate
slides in HG, I just had her open the entire .txt file in Notepad. It saved
some time.

I hope my not-so-inspired story saves you some time, since now you don't
*have* to repeat my mistakes. (You can if you wish!)

Good luck.
