Hi,
I am creating a slide presentation. I have music in the backround (a
.wma file). I have the music set to start with the first slide. I have
tried using the "rehearse timings" feature in the "slide show" pull-down
menu. As the music plays I click at the appropriate time so that the
slids change to the beat of the music. The problem I am having is that
when I save the rehearsed timings and run the slide show the slides
change too early. So, the timings I set during "rehearse" don't seem
correct during playback. Has anyone seen this before and do you know
what I could do to fix the problem?

Thanks,

Paul

I have. Here's what I did.

Now that you have the "jumping off" point for slide
transition timings, change them manually until you get the
desired effect.

I'd recommend going to the slide sorter view and right
click on each slide, select slide transition and adjust
the timings until you get what you want. It can get
frustrating because you'll need to start the show from the
beginning over and over, but the end result can be worth
it.

Keep in mind, that PowerPoint shows play at different
speeds on different PCs so even if you get it right on
your PC, it might be off on someone else's PC.

Thanks Glenna!
But, can you believe how inconvenient it is that you have to start the
MSpowerpoint presentation from the beginning every time as you go
through and adjust the slide timings!

Incredibly inconvenient. I know first hand! But it's the
only way I know to get it "exactly" the way you want it.

I went through the same thing with the theme song from
2001 for a customer once. Very tedious, very time
consuming, but the end result was spectacular.

I have spent a lot of time with detailed presentations including video & audio sync. Yes, the slide timing and transition controls in PPT are painful, as a suggestion to help you review the full presentation after making adjustments. Using the export feature create your presentation using a video file (mp4 or mov), this will help you to review timings in large presentations very quickly using the video slider control. It's very accurate.

If you're worried about timings going off due to computers being slower than others, distribute your presentation as a video. This way it makes it impossible to affect timings. Also means that viewers don't need to have PowerPoint installed.

Hope this helps a little :+)
