You might try leaving the paper orientation alone in the 'Page Setup'
(i.e. portrait) and select 'Handout' in the 'Print what' window of the
'Print' dialog and then select two slides per page in the 'Handouts'
section of the dialog. Make the A3 paper selection (portrait) in the
Windows printer driver detail. I haven't tried this, but I think it
will give you what you want.
