I have received an email with an attachment that I am unable to open, a
message tells me that the file does not have a programme associated with it.
The file has an extension ''pps'' which I believe is connected to Power Point.
what is the programmme I need to allow me to open this file attachment ?

Either Powerpoint itself, if you have it, or if not, you can download a free
viewer:
