I want to be able to bullet / unbullet text in Powerpoint
using a shortcut/hotkey.

This should be simple, but I haven't been anle to find it
in help.

I can ALT-O for FOrmat, then select Bullets and numbering
and go into the whole formatting box, but I want to just
do what the 'Bullet' button does - switches them on and
off.

The help file tells me how to assign an ALT-'X' to any
button, but when I do this it simply doesn't work.

Thanks very much for your help!

You can drag the Bullets menu item on to some menu and then use Shortcut
Manager for assigning a keyboard shortcut to this menu item.

To drag the Bullets menu item, follow these steps:
1. Select "Tools" | "Customize..." menu item.
2. In the "Commands" tab, select "Format" category.
3. Select "Bullets" command and drag it to say "Format" menu and drop it
there.
4. Click "Close".

Now you will have the Bullets menu item in the "Format" menu.

Download and install Shortcut Manager for PowerPoint from
http://officerone.tripod.com/ppsctmgr/ppsctmgr.html

After installing Shortcut Manager, use the following steps to assign a
keyboard shortcut to the Bullets menu that you just created:
1. Select "Tools" | "Customize Shortcuts..." menu item.
2. Select "Format" category.
3. Select "Bullets" command.
4. In the "Assign shortcut to command" box, press the key combination that
you wish to assign to the Bullets command.
5. Click "OK"

The assigned key combination will toggle the Bullets menu ON/OFF.
