Please register your wish for a change so that Microsoft knows that it's
customers are not happy with this "feature". To quote John Langhans of
Microsoft:
"If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that this capability
can/should be improved in PowerPoint (without have to resort to an add-in
or VBA), don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp
As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.
IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)"

By the way, it is possible to have both PowerPoint 2000 and 2003 on the same
system. Install the oldest version first and then do a custom install of
PowerPoint 2003 and be sure to set it to retain the prior version. Install
them to separate folders and they will co-habitate nicely on the same
system. There are many good reasons to upgrade to PowerPoint 2003, so I
would recommend this approach.

files created in PP98 or PP2000 due to "Read-only embedded fonts". I tried
the method mentioned which was to go to options menu and un-select the embed
fonts option but the "save" command is always greyed out regardless of what
I do. I can't edit, nor save the file.
