Get rid of slide advance buttons on Master

How do I get rid of the forward, back, and pen icons that appear during slide
show view (bottom left corner)? They're not on the slide master so I can't
delete them and I would prefer to create my own buttons. However, when I
select Set Up Show > Browsed... options, then I can't do a right-click with
my mouse to end show (which I would like to keep). OR, if I can't get rid of
them, how can I just change the colors so they're more obvious. thanks!

Untick "Show popup toolbar"

Last answer was for Office 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003.
This is for Office 2007:
Click the Office button
Click PowerPoint Options at the bottom
In Advanced look for "Show popup toolbar" under Slide Show and untick it.
