I have a presentation where an arrow appears next to a topic I'm covering.
That arrow disappears and appears beside the next topic I cover within the
same slide, and so fourth.

Printing the slide is where I have the problem. ALL the arrows that appeared
on that slide are present when I make a print out. I want it such that only
the second arrow appears on my print out.

I've tried both print options: Slides (with animations), and Slides (without
animations). Slides (with animation) prints out all arrows on the slide.
Slides (without animations) prints out only the first arrow.

Is it even possible to do such a thing?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if this would fit your needs, but if you are using animated .gif's, only the first frame of the animation prints.
Therefore, if the first frame is a transparent blank, the animatied image it will be invisible on your printed page.

You could make a new version of your animation, adding a blank transparent frame as the first frame. If you give that frame a
"duration" of 1 millisecond, it will have no noticeable effect on your animation. The existing unchanged version could be used for
the second topic and the new version could be used for all other topics. Then when you print the slide only the arrow next to the
second topic will appear.

Kind of an awkward work around, but it does prevent editing the slide when you want to print it.

Could you modify the slide so that the arrow is
fixed/not animated, then print it? Then just
restore the previous settings with Undo, or quit
and don't save the changes.

How about duplicating the slide... Clearing all animations... eliminating
all the unwanted arrows and printing it. Hide this slide during presentation
or delete it after use. Not the soundest of solutions but will work! : )

If you are printing Black and White you can set the other arrows to "hide"
in the B&W settings. Otherwise, you have to fudge it, like Shyam suggests.
