Compressing Images - Not Reducing Original File Dimensions

If a PPT slide contains a reduced-sized image whose original dimensions are
much larger, it seems the "compress images" doesn't take this into account.
The dpi may be reduced in the compression, but the file appears to retain
its original dimension properties, (even though it may be a reduced display
of the file).

Is there a way to ensure all images are compressed AND their original file
dimensions are also reduced to the new display dimensions?

Thanks
Geoff

I forgot to mention that this is important as I am trying to reduce PPT file
sizes for internet download, and I have a heap of them.

Keeping an image at its original dimensions (even if it is displayed
smaller) can result in a huge file.

If you know how to reduce the image's 'original dimensions' that would be of
great help.

I'm using PPT 20002.

Thanks

You may want to look at third party solutions. NX Powerlite
(http://www.nxpowerlite.com/) and PointLess (can't find the link right now).

That's exactly correct, Geoff.
