My daughter is doing a power point presentation for
school and cannot open the presentation she saved to a
floppy disc. when she tries to copy it to the hard drive
it says cannot copy file, cyclic redundancy check. what
can we do to save her presentation?

If she saved it directly to the floppy disk, the file may be incomplete or
corrupted. PowerPoint frequently fails to correctly save files to removable
media. Can you ask her if she saved it *to* the floppy? Does she have
another copy of the file on hard disk - - perhaps at school? That may be
the only way to recover the work she has done.

http://tinyurl.com/2clar leads to a Google Groups thread where we
discussed this once. I'm afraid we don't know much other than the fact
that this seems to be caused by saving directly to a floppy disk.

If you get CRC error trying to read the floppy I'm afraid its pretty much a
lost cause. Even if you use a repair utility to get the data, its a
certainty that PPT won't be able to open the file. Sorry...
