The weird part is that they run at all. They're not supposed to, at least
not in the viewer.
There's a bit more info on why and what to do about it on the PPT FAQ,
http://www.rdpslides.com/ppt
However, that being said, I'm surprised that your anigifs are running at
*all* in the viewer. PPT2000 is the only version of PPT that supports
anigifs, and the viewer is actually a PPT97 viewer. It doesn't support
anigif. Are you sure you're not using AVI? Or are you sure that they're
animating at all in the viewer?

Can you open the animated GIF in an animated GIF editor like Ulead GIF
Animator and check it's loop properties?

was what he said, which is why I figured it was the viewer. But you have a
good point here. If PowerPoint is present on the machine, it might be
launching the show instead of the viewer. If it's 2k instead of 97, that'd
explain it.

If the end-user has access to an Internet browser, save your work in
HTML format. When executed, I had no problem with repeating animation.

Try temporarily renaming POWERPNT.EXE to something else on the machine where
you've packed and gone. Packed and goed. Packn'went. Awwwshoot, you know
whuttameanVern, right? ;-)
My guess is that you're seeing PowerPoint running the show, not the viewer.
