Have you gone to View > Header and Footer > Slide and made sure that you have

Do you have them covered with an image or other object?

I'm betting the footer placeholder has been deleted.

Go to View/Master/Slide Master, then go to Format/Master Layout. Check the
option for "footer" and click OK to add the footer placeholder back to the
slide.

Does that only apply to Master slides? What if I want to use the normal slides. It never appeared to me at the normal slide, while the option at the insert tab is actually for normal slides

I am having the same issue - and when I click View --> Slide Master and click footer - the box WILL NOT stay checked... How can I fix that?
