VGA Freeze device??

Anyone ever heard of or seen a device that can simply freeze the VGA
output of a computer during a live presentation? I would love a device
with a VGA input and output and a freeze button that I could put
between my laptop and the projector so I could make last minute
changes without the audience seeing anything.

There are a lot of pro AV scalers that can do this (Folsom, Analog
Way, Extron, Kramer, etc.) but they are both too big and too expensive
to just throw in a laptop bag. I also know that many projectors have
this built in but I often use high end staging projectors which I
don't have control over.

I've Googled like crazy and talked to Extron, Kramer, and Folsom but
none of them have a small compact device with this capability.

Is this type of thing on anyone else's "wish list?"

This guy was working on one last year. Very cool......

Thanks TD,

He is indeed making exactly what I am looking for. He estimates
production starting in sometime shortly after the 2nd week of January
08. I'll post more info once I buy one.

If Steve's not available does anyone else know where one of these items can be purchased? Thanks for any assistance you can give on this search.

I did not get one yet. It was still in Beta testing last time I checked a few months ago. But it might be ready by now. Look higher up in the thread for his email.

So if anyone is still looking for this, I believe I found a solution...

Its called a VGA Adapter.

It converts S-Video, AV and VGA to VGA. Usually its used to play older video game consuls on a computer monitor.

But some come with a freeze function, so you plug your VGA into the unit and then have another VGA coming from the unit going to the computer!

I haven't purchased one these but at around $20 its worth a try.
