I no longer get the "Paste Options" button

It used to be, when I would copy slides from one presentation to another,
upon pasting the slides, a small "paste options" button would appear, which
would allow me to choose to keep the source slide formatting, or use the
formatting of the destination presentation.

Problem: I no longer get that button that pops up, so Powerpoint defaults
to using the formatting of the destination presentation.

Question: How do I get that "Paste Options" button to start appearing
again.

( BTW, I've already made sure that the box is checked next to
Tools/Options/Edit/"Show Paste Options Buttons" so that's not the problem )

Not sure what version you're working with, but try this:

Insert > Slides From Files. Browse to find the presentation in which your
slides are locate.
Select the slides you want and check off Keep Source Formatting.

I had this problem awhile back, and it turned out an add-in called "set
default view" was causing the problem. http://skp.mvps.org/setview.htm (love
the add-in but missed the paste options button, so I had to uninstall it).

So, do you have any add-ins installed? Here's how you can check:

Did you look for add-ins, as suggested the very first thing in this thread?

Maybe you can use Sandy's suggestion to insert slides using Insert Slides
From File and using the "keep source formatting" option.

I have this problem too with PowerPoint 2007. When copying slides from one presentation to another the small paste option button displays for a second and then disappears. It doesn't happen with every presentation though.

On playing around with the problem I discovered that it was only one of the slides causing the problem. If I copied all the slides except the problem one I had the paste option button appear and stay.

The problem slide had a graph linked to an excel sheet. Breaking the link didn't help either. The only way to copy the slide with the paste option showing was to delete the graph (not the ideal solution :-) but proving that this was the problem).

The only way so far that I have been able to get round the problem is to find the culprit slide, copy the others (thus copying the master page) then copy the culprit slide and then change its layout. This is not a real solution. I am still working on it though so hopefully I will find something.
