We just recently upgraded to Office XP. Several employees
discovered that when they were working with presentations
created in earlier versions of Power Point, copying and
pasting slides did not work right. We use custom-made
JPEG images as the backgrounds, but the new (pasted)
slides do not have those backgrounds. They instead have a
greenish background with no JPEG.

Also, the gradient function does not appear to be working.

Are there some default settings that we must turn off/on
to enable the background images to be copied? Is this a
documented issue with a patch? Is this just a result of
the upgrade?
Thanks for any help...

Sounds as though the background for the entire presentation was set in the
Slide Master of the original presentation, not on individual slides.

If you can select the background image on the original presentation's slide
master, copy it, then paste it into the slide master of the new presentation
then Draw, Order, Send to back.
