Strange color blocks in my .ppt presentations

I randomly get big blocks of color (usually black or hyperlink teal) on my
presentations (Office Professional 2003). I first thought is was faulty
hyperlinks but these blocks can appear on any slide. The blocks will continue
off of the slide which makes me believe it's a video/memory leak issue, but
I'm not sure and have no idea how to correct it.

Restarting my computer will fix it but only in the interim since it will
show up again--especially if I'm opening a lot of presentations.

I work in .ppt all the time so this is becoming a huge issue. It seems
isolated to my machine since I can send the presentations to another computer
and they don't see it.

I'm running an HP-NC6000 laptop, WinXP Professional SP2 with all updates
installed.

Update your video drivers and see if turning down Hardware Acceleration
helps.

Thanks! My video drivers are up to date, but I didn't know about the HW
Acceleration. Hopefully it'll solve the problem.

Are there any videos on the slides affected? Did you install any DVD player
on your system? Make sure Windows Media Player is the standard for
mpeg-videos, some other players may cause problems in combination with PPT
(especially WinDVD caused problems on my system - including disabling the
F3-key in Excel ...).

No videos on our slides. Just very very graphic intensive charts...and
Windows Media Player is the standard on my machine.

All seems well now with the acceleration turned down. I'm hoping it stays
that way.
