An additional item - this had Windows Front Page and the Personal server, which I "uninstalled" from the control panel. Before installing UniformServer, I was able to network into the "Personal Server" from another machine, by entering It opened the basic default web page on the server, so I know that access to the machine existed.

Defines the minimum supported MySQL version. The default is chosenby the phpMyAdmin team; however this directive was asked by a developerof the Plesk control panel to ease integration with older MySQL servers(where most of the phpMyAdmin features work).
The installation package displays the exact version number for each major component of the installation. This includes WAMP server which can act as a control panel for the installation, PHPMyAdmin for managing databases, SQLBuddy, and others.
Once the XAMPP installation is complete, using the XAMPP control panel you can start and stop each module for testing purposes. For example, when testing PHP applications, you can start the two modules Apache and MySQL allowing PHP programs to run on your computer.
