Hi,

I am using ppt file to show some production numbers and stuff on a tv
in our company. Every day I have to go and get a new verion of the
ppt file and copy it to a computer and run it from there.
What I want to do is to schedule a bat file to this once a day, but
how can I close the ppt show that is running before I copy the new
file to the computer?

Regards guzti.

This WSH script should do the job.

' PPTKill.vbs
On Error Resume Next
Set oPPT = GetObject(,"PowerPoint.Application") ' find running PPT
if Err.Number <> 0 Then wsh.echo "Cannot find PowerPoint" : wsh.quit
oPPT.ActivePresentation.Saved = True ' Tell PPT not to worry about saving
oPPT.Quit ' Exit PPT

It can be run in the scheduler, thus ...

wscript.exe pathtoscript\PPTKill.vbs

or in a batch procedure as ...

cscript.exe //nologo pathtoscript\PPTKill.vbs

A command console utility to 'kill' processes is also provided in the Windows Resource Kit - Kill.exe, but I've not used it, so I do not know it's syntax

Agust,
If I read your situation I would suggest to go have a look at
www.take-off.as
With that you can fully automate your production numbers; don't stop the
presentation, update every second if needed and so on.
Also there is a free tool coming out in a few weeks to send a presentation
to a monitor which will start the presentation automatically. If you want to
test that tool already then please contact me by email (remove the word
NOSPAM from the address).

Kurt
