I was in the process of preparing powerpoint slides for a
lecture consisting of 50 slides. I finished typing
speaker's notes for each slide up to #40. (I clicked the
disc icon every so often to save my work). I logged off
the computer. When I returned to my file later, the file
opened to slide #40 with the notes that I have written so
far, I continued to add notes to slides #40 -50. I
thought I was done with the entire lecture, but when I
scrolled up, I discovered that all the notes for slides #1-
40 had disappeared!! I searched for them everywhere in
the computer. Where could the notes have gone? Someone
said it maybe "behind" the note page. Another said it's a
bug due to imcompatibility between Powerpoint 97 and XP
operating system. Any ideas?

Wayne,

PowerPoint 97 without the service updates (SR1, SR2) does indeed lose
speaker notes. One trick (other than installing the updates) is to save the
pres in "slide view", and not note view.
