Is editing text of a picture inside powerpoint 2007 possible? If so, how
do I do that?

Was this feature(editing text of a picture inside power point) present
in Powerpoint 2003 or in Powerpoint 2010?

If not, is there a easier way than copying the image to MS-paint or
Photoshop, deleting the not wanted text, drawing a selection and adding
the required text in it.

The user wants to edit text inside a picture in a powerpoint slide and
does not want go through the work of copying image in Paint/Photoshop,
removing then adding text, then inserting the changed picture back in
Powerpoint.

How was the picture imported into PPT? If it was imported as a bitmap,
its text won't be editable. If the text is editable you should be able
to activate and edit it by simply clicking on it. Otherwise you'll
need to resort to Photoshop.

You can overlay text onto a picture by inserting a textbox on top of
it.
